Cost of Hiring a West Los Angeles Personal Assistant

Traditional employment agencies charge a commission based on the personal assistant’s salary (generally10-20%). If the personal assistant's annual salary is $50,000, and the agency charges a 15% placement fee, the fee would be $7,500 (15% of $50,000). But we’re a new kind of agency.

Our candidates are looking for part-time positions (not salaried full-time positions), and our fees reflect that:

We charge a non-refundable deposit of $100 to interview up to 5 candidates. Once you have decided to hire a candidate, we charge a placement fee of $445, bringing our total services to $545.

  • The Middle seamlessly and easily connects you with qualified, pre-screen personal assistant candidates in West Los Angeles and surrounding areas, like Santa Monica and Venice. We also service New York City.

  • Pet care is not typically within the scope of duties that a personal assistant handles, but in our matching process, we’ll do our best to select candidates who are open to caring for your pets in addition to general duties.

  • That depends on your needs! If you are looking for an assistant to run errands or organize matters at your home, we match you with assistants based in your area. If you only need remote administrative support like online research, email and calendar management, and digital file organization, well, we’ll still match you with assistants in your area! Even if your needs can be handled entirely virtually, when you hire through The Middle, your candidate will be in the same city (no doing mental math for different time zones) and available for Zooms as needed so you can still create a personal working relationship.

  • At this time, we only place part-time positions. Our part-time positions are meant to be ongoing, and we do not place contract or temp positions.

  • There may be! Our database is always in flux so if you’re looking for someone who speaks a language other than English, feel free to include it in your description of needs and we’ll do our best to match you with candidates who also speak that language.

  • Our personal assistants are meant to support busy professionals in a private capacity. Our matching comes in when we look at your industry needs and select available candidates who have prior experience or interest in your industry. We don’t cater to specific industries, and have worked with clients in a variety of industries, including, but not limited to, entertainment, consulting, tech, real estate, law, art, and many others!

  • The Middle works like a personal assistant matchmaker - after reviewing your needs, we will send you your best candidate matches (for free!)

    Next, if you would like to interview any of the candidates, simply let us know your availability and we’ll do the coordinating. We’ll send you a confirmed schedule with calendar invitations to each Zoom interview.

    There is no obligation to hire any of the candidates that you interview, but if you decide you’d like to, we’ll give your offer to the candidate and connect you directly once they accept. You’ll take it from there!

    We are not involved in the actual employment (we do not facilitate onboarding, manage your PA’s hours, or direct payments through us), allowing you the flexibility to work with your hire on a personal and adaptable level.

  • We aim to send you candidates as quickly as possible. This is normally within 2-4 days, but we allow up to 2 weeks in case we are currently in a round of interviews and need time to onboard and do our diligence on any new candidates who may be a fit for you.

  • No! In fact, we believe personal assistants are for ANY busy person. Our clients include consultants, finance professionals, artists, writers, entrepreneurs, marketing experts, and influencers. At The Middle, it’s less about what you do and more about what you need!
