Hire a Part-Time Executive Assistant in LA & NYC

In-Person and Remote Part-Time Executive Assistant Services

The Middle places part-time executive assistants for busy professionals and private business owners.

We do not place corporate, salaried, full-time executive assistants (EAs).

What is an executive assistant?

An executive assistant is a skilled administrator and right-hand who can support a busy executive or business owner’s professional life by gate-keeping their calendar, communicating and coordinating on their behalf, and managing their projects.

What’s the difference between a personal assistant and an executive assistant?

A personal assistant manages tasks that center around an individual’s busy personal life and household, whereas an executive assistant focuses on supporting a busy leader’s professional life. Traditional executive assistants often report to an office desk for a full-time position, whereas our executive assistants work on a part-time, flexible basis either from your home/home office or remotely from their home.

Assistants at The Middle are flexible and adaptable to provide both executive and personal support to our clients.

Cost of Hiring an Executive Assistant

Traditional employment agencies charge a 10-20% commission fee on a candidate’s salary. If the executive assistant’s salary is $70,000, and the agency charges 10%, your fee (on top of their salary) would be $7,000! Other job boards and marketplaces can charge hundreds of dollars to keep your job ad up for as long as it takes to find the right applicant (and then leave you to do all the reviewing of resumes!). We do things differently.

We are happy to provide you with EA candidates free of charge. We charge a non-refundable $100 interview fee if you would like to set virtual interviews with any of your candidate matches. If you would like to hire a candidate you interview, we charge a one-time placement fee of $445. You pay your new executive assistant their hourly wages directly.

Unlike candidates on traditional job boards and marketplaces, our executive assistants are not looking for full-time, salaried employment. Our part-time executive assistants have hourly rates between $30-$35+, depending on experience.

What kind of business skills do executive assistants from The Middle have?

  • Proficiency in basic programs like MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, and Google Calendar. Familiarity with programs like Notion, Canva, Airtable, Zoom, Outlook, or Trello. Comfortability using all technology including Mac, PC, iPhone, and Android, plus learning new tools as needed.

  • An executive assistant should have excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • The ability to smoothly manage multiple tasks, pieces of information, and moving schedules

  • EAs need to keep their eye on several balls in the air and make sure deadlines are met.

  • EAs should own their tasks through completion.

  • Skilled at prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.

  • Experience with relevant administrative tasks, like managing calendars, scheduling appointments, handling emails, and organizing files.

  • Executive assistants often draft emails on behalf of their clients and need to correspond in a professional manner.

Does The Middle offer both in-person and remote executive assistants?

Yes! Our executive assistants can offer services both in-person and remotely. Regardless of where your EA works from, they will always be located in your city (either Los Angeles or New York City).
